Professional Master’s Degree in Health Science and Technology
About the Master’s Program
The Professional Master’s Degree in Health Science and Technology aims to train professionals with knowledge in applied methodologies and processes, essential for efficient performance in health establishments and technology-based companies, through the incorporation of scientific methods and techniques. Furthermore, it aims to promote professional development in the field of advancement of strategic health technologies, including best practices in project development, innovation and technology management, both in the hospital environment and in the industrial sector.
Research Lines:
I) Development of products and processes for health technologies
The aim is to investigate and apply technical and scientific knowledge in the development of products and processes for health technologies. The line of research interests include supporting the process of developing strategic technologies for the SUS, evaluating and managing health technologies, addressing: development of products and their respective production processes; monitoring the performance and reliability of a given technology; understanding the procedures for supervising medical and hospital technologies; identifying, evaluating, and reducing risks to patients, visitors, institutions, and governments; reducing the incidence of predictable accidents and injuries in order to minimize the financial and non-financial losses of the Institution; understanding the technological needs of medical and hospital equipment and facilities in health establishments; developing and validating strategic technologies for the SUS; and; understanding the ethical precepts of the health sector.
II) Regulation, management and development of technological projects for health products
This line of research is based on directing research projects to map the regulation and management of processes, considering their multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary characteristics and the uncertainty inherent to this process, as it aims to incorporate new technologies for associating and analyzing data and information to support management, develop more complex parameters and indicators for monitoring management, develop strategies for incorporating new databases, create mechanisms with complex technology for analyzing information, expand partnerships for the area of information and health informatics, and develop easy-to-use products to support the management of the SUS. It also works with compliance certification, which is the formal demonstration that a product, duly identified, meets the requirements of specific technical standards or regulations.
III) Health Technology Assessment
This line of research aims to investigate, develop and apply methods and strategies aimed at the critical and systematic evaluation of health technologies, considering the clinical, epidemiological, economic, ethical and organizational contexts in which they are inserted. The technologies analyzed may include medicines, medical devices, procedures, information systems, care protocols and models of care organization. The line also articulates with teaching, extension and technical cooperation actions, promoting integration between the different levels of training, managers, health professionals and decision-making bodies. In this sense, it encourages the training of researchers committed to the qualification of health decisions, the sustainability of systems and the expansion of access with equity and safety.
